Poetry

November 30, 2000 Seattle:
A year beyond WTO

WOW, what a day!
Did you hear the anarchists, came back to play?
Brought their own windows, bubble wrapped and medic backed
offered the sledge to hammer back.
“We came to offer payback, your windows we broke
come break ours, it’s only pay back!
Come one come all, the Media especially
for giving us, all the coverage that you gave
we got almost all
when only 100 of 60,000 shall get
so much coverage, we offer to thee
to smash our windows and do it with glee!”

And step forth, last year’s worker displaced
and with glee hit them so hard, he shed blood
and a medic was there, to tend the wound
for when you break windows, a price you pay
some times it’s blood, some times it’s rage
and then a sentence to pay.
But the black box dudes, did it just right
came back to thank and celebrate!
The Birth of revolution, against corporate might
to stand and say no
to those who believe the hype of NAFTA and WTO!

No Treaty was signed, by legal means
but slid through Congress and not ratified
as a Treaty to take away, all human rights
but that’s what it is and it just ain’t right!
So now it’s been a year.
Media spun discounts, turned righteous dudes
into terrorists, a riot to brew!
When all we wanted, our voice to be heard
to take to the streets
when all course of formulating public policy
in a land sold out
to corporate profit and multi-national dudes
running the land and sucking it dry
of quality living, we can’t let it go by!
So we’ll gather together and celebrate our joy
break our own windows, it’s a much better ploy!
But I ask you this
did I see the coverage of merchants, media and robo cops
breaking what we brought or is it only news
when corporate property we break?
It’s all street theater, give us a break!

Report the message, that our medium writes
Independent Media centers, get it right
so click on www.indymedia.org to know the truth
and join the force that seeks to change
a sure path to hell, right here on earth
Free Traded to death is a path not to take!

So listen on up, to the poems I write
to learn a truth with a rhyme and true note
of the tone of our hearts, you can’t rape the earth.
So we fast, pray and e-mail our friends
and click on this to know the news
www.indymedia.org is where it’s at
to know the news and get more than you got
from a corporate spun network’s view.
To get even more, than just the news
check out my poems, censored they’ll be
when truth is known, it can no longer be
kept secret no more, it just can’t be.
So click on this, if you want to see
poems of angst and misery
that tell of hope and just how it can be
to change the way by knowing how it be
click onto Poets Against the War and add to that .org
for poetry to see
what really is and what happened at three
in Seattle November 30, no WTO to be
for now in 2000, we gathered with glee
naked women danced by, more than three
with duck taped nipples, but the rest to see
dancing titties and women celebrating turtles and trees
as we danced for life and took to the streets!
